Criminal Impersonation/Identity Theft

Two residents of rural Adams, Nebraska reported a case of criminal impersonation, i.e. identity theft, to an investigator from the Gage County Sheriff’s Office. The female victim had three items shipped to her residence she did not order, need, or want. The items were billed to her Medicare account via Mutual of Omaha. 

Ultimately, the victim will not be responsible for the charges, however the company, Absolute Comfort Medical, did use her name, address, and insurance policy number to bill her.

The investigator from the Gage County Sheriff’s Office contacted Mutual of Omaha, with the permission of the victim, and will be following up with the Mutual of Omaha fraud department. 

The victim has not lost any money and was cautioned about providing financial information to anyone over the telephone who might call regarding this case.
