Driving Under Revocation

DATE & TIME: 04-02-2019 @ 09:49 am

LOCATION: 10th & Market Streets, Beatrice

OFFENSE: Driving Under Revocation

CASE #: 2019-1591

On Tuesday, 04-02-2019, at approximately 9:45 am, the Special Services sergeant at the courthouse observed a subject leave the courthouse and he knew he had just been in court on driving under suspension charges. The sergeant checked the driving status and found out the subject’s driver’s license was revoked. The suspect was observed getting into the driver’s side of a grey Chevrolet Silverado and leave the area, heading south on 6th Street from Grant Street.

The sergeant radioed to an investigator in the area, who observed the vehicle southbound on 6th Street at Ella Street. A Special Services deputy radioed in the license plate and the investigator confirmed the vehicle he observed was the suspect vehicle, being driven by a person with a revoked driver’s license.

The investigator stopped the vehicle at 10th and Market Streets and contacted the driver, 64-year-old Steven B. Gufford of Beatrice, asking him for his driver’s license. A record check revealed Gufford’s driver’s license was revoked and expired. The investigator placed Gufford under arrest and transported him to the Gage County Detention Center where he was booked into the jail.
