Fatality Accident Hwy 4 & Juniper Road

LOCATION:  Hwy 4 and Juniper Rd. 

OFFENSE:  Fatality Accident

On 03-01-24 at approximately 2303 Hrs. Beatrice Fire and Rescue, Beatrice Rural Fire and Rescue and the Gage County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a single vehicle accident with injury on W Hwy 4, near Juniper Road. An investigation conducted at the scene indicated that a white 2005 Ford F-150 pickup truck, driven by 21-year-old Jose Luis Hernandez of Plymouth, was traveling westbound on Hwy 4 when it failed to negotiate a curve and entered the north ditch. The driver over corrected, causing the vehicle to go back over both lanes of travel and enter the south ditch. After entering the south ditch, the vehicle rolled over several times. Mr. Hernandez was ejected from the vehicle. Mr. Hernandez was pronounced dead at the scene.

Occupant restraints were not in use. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol were factors in the accident. This investigation is ongoing.
