CASE #: 2015-6311
On 12-30-15 around 1848 hours, the Gage County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a single vehicle accident on Walnut Road, ½ mile west of SW 61st Road.
On arrival, law enforcement contacted the driver of the vehicle, 70 year old Robert Johnson of Odell, and the only passenger of the vehicle, 14 year old Jacobi Evens of Lincoln. At that time, both Johnson and Evens indicated that they did not need medical attention. An investigation conducted at the scene indicated that a red 2005 Dodge pickup, driven by Johnson, was traveling east on Walnut Road when a deer entered the roadway. Johnson attempted to avoid the deer and lost control of the vehicle on the icy roadway. The vehicle entered the ditch, flipped onto its side and impacted a tree.
Later that evening, the Gage County Sheriff’s Office was informed that Mr. Evens had been transported by family members to Beatrice Community Hospital complaining of pain and shortness of breath.
Both occupants of the vehicle were wearing restraints. There was no air bag deployment.
Alcohol and drugs are not believed to have been a factor.
