Minor injuries in rollover accident on Highway 77 north of Ash Road

OFFENSE:  One Vehicle Rollover Accident            

CASE #: 2017-0425              

On January 24, 2017 at 2020 hours, The Gage County Sheriff’s Office along with Clatonia Rescue and Cortland Fire responded to a one vehicle rollover accident on Highway 77 just south of Cortland and north of Ash Road.

A 2001 Ford Explorer was traveling south in the southbound lanes on Highway 77. The Ford lost traction due to ice on the roadway and went into the west ditch. The Ford entered the ditch and began to roll a total of three times after it hit the embankment. The Ford landed on its roof in the west ditch embankment where it came to rest.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as Mackenzie Eltiste, age 16 from Tecumseh, Nebraska. The driver sustained only minor injuries and was treated on scene by Clatonia Rescue. The passenger of the vehicle was identified as 21 year old Courtney Eltiste from Tecumseh and she also sustained minor injuries and was treated on scene.

Neither drugs nor alcohol were suspected to be contributing factors of the accident.
