CASE #: 2023-6178
On 12/11/23 at approximately 0730 hours, the Gage County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a one vehicle accident on S. 94th Road near Rockford Drive.
When deputies arrived, they observed a 2015 Mini Cooper at the bottom of a creek bed on it’s top. There were two occupants in the vehicle, the driver, Christopher Bogus 39 years of age of Barneston, NE and a six-year-old child. Both occupants were removed from the vehicle with the help of the rural Beatrice Fire and Rescue personnel.
Bogus stated he was traveling northbound on S. 94th Road when a deer entered the roadway from the east. Bogus maneuvered his vehicle to not collide with the deer and in doing so, the vehicle left the roadway to the west entering the ditch and colliding with a creek embankment
Both Bogus and the child were transported by Beatrice Fire and Rescue to Bryan West Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
The accident is still under investigation due to it being unknown if the child was properly restrained.
Speed and alcohol/drugs were not a factor in the accident.
