DATE: Thursday, November 02, 2017 @1635

LOCATION: US Highway 77 & SW Birch Road

OFFENSE: One Vehicle Injury Accident

CASE: 2017-6034

On November 2, 2017, at approximately 4:35 p.m., Nathan Sutter, 17, of Swanton, Nebraska, was driving a 1994 Chevrolet Pickup south on US Highway 77.  While moving from the right lane into the left lane, Sutter almost struck another southbound vehicle pulling a camper trailer in the left lane.  The driver of the vehicle honked, startling Sutter who jerked the wheel to return to the right lane.  Sutter’s pickup then left the road on the right, he then jerked the wheel to the left, overcorrected, lost control, rolling several times across both southbound lanes and coming to rest upright in the median.

Gage County Sheriff’s Deputies, Nebraska State Patrol Troopers, Clatonia Rescue, Cortland Fire, and Quick Response Team, along with StarCare Air Ambulance were all dispatched to the accident by Southeast Communications.

Witnesses reported seeing Sutter who was not wearing his seatbelt, ejected, and flying through the air.  Sutter’s passenger, Lincoln Greene, 25, of Cameron, Missouri who was wearing his seatbelt, remained in the passenger seat, and was reportedly trapped in the vehicle for a brief time.

Sutter was transported to the Bryan Medical Center via StarCare Air Ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries.  Greene was also reported to have non-life-threatening injuries, and transported to Bryan Medical Center via Clatonia Rescue.

The pickup was a total loss.
