Possession of a Controlled Substance

DATE & TIME: 06-17-2019 @ 9:43 am

LOCATION: Gage County Detention Center

OFFENSE: Possession of a Controlled Substance

CASE #: 2019-3159

On Monday, June 17, 2019 at approximately 9:43 am, 33-year-old Krystal Rainey was in the Gage County Detention Center and was being prepared to be brought over to court for arraignment for possession of a controlled substance charge. She had been arrested the previous day in Beatrice by an outside agency for possession of a controlled substance. Before being taken to court on Monday, Rainey was sitting on a bench in the hallway of the jail and when she stood up, a small package containing methamphetamine fell out of her clothing. A Gage County Detention Center supervisor secured the package and notified an investigator for the Gage County Sheriff’s Office.

The investigator reviewed video from the jail, confirmed the package came from Rainey’s clothing, and conducted a field test on the package. The field test resulted in a positive indication for the presence of methamphetamine. Rainey was arrested by the investigator and the evidence will be sent to the Nebraska State Patrol Crime Laboratory in Lincoln, Nebraska for forensic testing.
