Poss. of a Controlled Substance, Poss. of Drug Paraphernalia, Maint. a Drug House and Child Abuse

OFFENSE: Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Maintaining a Drug House and Child Abuse

On 12/11/19 at approximately 11:00 AM the Gage County Sheriff's Office and Beatrice Police Department executed a search warrant at 712 Scott St. in Beatrice. The search warrant was part of an investigation involving methamphetamine distribution occurring in Gage County. During the search, a marijuana pipe was also found in the pocket of Ashley Maher, age 30 of Beatrice who lived at the residence. On a nightstand in Maher's bedroom, a tin can with a metal containing suspected marijuana residue was located next to a ' nipple '/ lid of a baby bottle along with baby food. A broken meth pipe was also located in Maher' s bedroom. On the second floor, additional broken meth pipes were located in a bedroom found to be occupied by Taylor Smith. Maher's 1-year-old son was discovered on the first floor of the residence and he was removed from the home and turned over to the Department of Health and Human Services for placement. Maher's other children were not in the residence at the time but were found to also have bedrooms on the second floor. Both Maher and Smith were arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance (Meth) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Maher was also arrested for Maintaining a Drug House, and Child Abuse.  Both Maher and Smith were lodged at the Gage County Detention Center on the above charges.
