Report of Suicidal Male

LOCATION: S 36th Road, Approx. ¼ mile south of Hoyt Road

OFFENSE: Report of Suicidal Male

CASE #: 2019-2463

Gage County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a suicidal male in a sport utility vehicle on S 36th Road between Hoyt and Highway 136. While responding to the call, deputies were advised the male had lit himself on fire. Beatrice Fire and Rescue and Beatrice Rural Fire were then dispatched. Upon arrival, deputies found the vehicle fully engulfed in flames, and the male was outside the vehicle laying on the opposite side of the road with severe burns. Deputies assisted the male to a safe distance away from the burning vehicle.

The Beatrice Fire and Rescue and Beatrice Rural Fire extinguished the fire and paramedics cared to the patient. Star Care was contacted to transport the male to Saint Elizabeth Hospital in Lincoln for further treatment.

Based upon statements from the male and a witness, it is believed the fire was set intentionally.

The names of the male and witness are not being released at this time.
