Scam Phone Call

A Wymore resident notified a Gage County Sheriff’s Office investigator she had received a phone call from 876-890-6853 and the caller used her name, then told her she had won $5,000,000.00 dollars.  The Wymore resident stated the caller kept calling her “Hon” and said there was no cost, he just had to bring the check to her house. She told him if he wanted to come to her house, she would have a deputy waiting for him there. He then hung up the phone.

The Wymore resident did not lose any money and did not give out any personal, confidential, or financial information. She was advised to check her mail and credit accounts for fraudulent activity.

The Gage County Sheriff’s Office urges residents to be cautious of scams, frauds, and suspicious activity. Anyone who has suspicious contact may contact their local police department or call the Gage County Sheriff’s Office and ask to speak with an investigator.
