Search Warrant Leads to Arrest

LOCATION: 101 2^nd St.; Barneston, NE                                    

OFFENSE: Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony           CASE #: 2023-5778                            

On 11/22/23 at approximately 0710 hrs. Gage County Sheriff’s Deputies executed a search warrant at 101 2nd St. in Barneston, NE.  The search warrant authorized a search looking for firearms and related accessories as part of a Disturbing the Peace investigation involving Heath Genrich, age 39 of Barneston.  Upon entry into the residence, Genrich was located and detained. 

During a search of the residence, deputies located 11 total firearms (two shotguns, six rifles, and three handguns).  Most of the firearms were loaded with ammunition.  Ten of the firearms were found in a firearm safe in Genrich’s living room.  The Beretta handgun was located in-between the mattress and box springs in Genrich’s bedroom.  A small amount of white residue was located on a handheld mirror and on top of a closet cabinet in Genrich’s bedroom.  Residue on the mirror and cabinet pre-tested positive for methamphetamine.  A THC vape pen cartridge was located in Genrich’s bedroom closet. 

Genrich was lodged in the Gage County Detention Center.  The investigation is ongoing.
