Sex Offender Registration Act Violation

DATE & TIME: January 10, 2024

LOCATION: 13th and Lincoln Streets / Beatrice

OFFENSE: Sex Offender Registration Act Violation

CASE #: 2024-0122

On Wednesday, January 10, 2024, a Gage County Sheriff’s Office investigator and a deputy from the sheriff’s office arrested 38-year-old Jeremy Dwain Stewart for failure to register as a sex offender after moving to Beatrice, Nebraska in mid-November 2023.

The sheriff’s office received information from the Beatrice Police Department that an unregistered sex offender was living at a residence in Beatrice. A sheriff’s office investigator followed up on the information by contacting the Sumner County Kansas Sheriff’s Office and confirmed that Jeremy Dwain Stewart was a registered sex offender and in addition he was non-compliant in Kansas for failure to register his information by 12-31-2023.

The investigator and deputy found Jeremy Dwain Stewart to be living at a residence in the area of 13th and Lincoln and on January 10, 2024, arrested Stewart and booked him into the jail for failure to register as a sex offender.

The Gage County Sheriff’s Office is approximately 6 ½ blocks from the residence where Stewart had been living for nearly two months, but he never made an attempt to register in Nebraska.
