Three Arrested On Mutiple Charges

DATE & TIME: Saturday November 16, 2019; 6:40 P.M.

LOCATION: 508 S. 10th St.; Beatrice, NE        

OFFENSE: Distribution of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine); Possession of a Deadly Weapon by a Prohibited Person, Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Child Abuse.

On 11/16/19 at approximately 6:40 PM the Gage County Sheriff’s Office and Beatrice Police Department executed a search warrant at 508 S. 10th St. in Beatrice. The search warrant was part of an investigation involving methamphetamine distribution occurring in Gage County. During a search of the residence investigators found numerous methamphetamine pipes, numerous new small plastic baggies commonly used in the distribution of methamphetamine, both used and unused syringes, multiple digital scales, a small amount of marijuana, a marijuana pipe, and a marijuana grinder. One of the residents, Michelle Harvey, age 43 of Beatrice, was found in possession of a baggie of suspected methamphetamine weighing 5.2 grams. Also located in the basement were two more residents, James Orton, age 36 of Beatrice, and Ashley Orton, age 29 of Beatrice. In the basement investigators located two knives that had a blade design consistent with that of weapons. The blade lengths were approximately 8” and 12”.  Four juvenile children were also discovered to be living at the residence and they were removed from the home and placed with family members. Harvey, and James and Ashley Orton were all lodged in the Gage County Detention Center for various charges relating to the distribution or possession of methamphetamine. James Orton is a convicted felon and he was also charged with Possession of a Deadly Weapon by a prohibited person and Possession of a Weapon During the Commission of a Felony.
