Two Vehicle Injury Accident

DATE: Monday, December 18, 2023 @ 1550 Hours     

LOCATION: US Hwy 77 & W. 4^th Street in Cortland

OFFENSE: Two Vehicle Injury Accident

CASE: 2023-6327      

On Monday, December 18, 2023, at approximately 15:50 hours, Southeast Communications dispatched Gage County Deputies, along with Cortland Fire, Rescue and QRT to a two-vehicle injury accident on US Hwy 77 and W. 4^th Street in Cortland.

The accident investigation revealed a southbound 2016 KIA Soul driven by Joy Sheets of Kearney collided with an eastbound 2007 Chevrolet SUV driven by Kylie Bean of Cortland. Bean failed to yield after stopping at the stop sign on W. 4^th at Hwy 77.  The collision totaled both vehicles.

Cortland Rescue transported Sheets to Bryan West with unknown injuries, while a family took Bean to be checked out.

Restraints were in use in both vehicles.  Airbags were deployed in Sheets vehicle and no deployment in Bean’s vehicle.  Neither drugs nor alcohol are believed to have been a factor in the accident.

At this time, the investigation is ongoing.
