Two vehicle injury accident

DATE & TIME:  March 3, 2019 at 0742 hours

LOCATION: E. Elm Rd and S. 5th Rd 

OFFENSE: Two vehicle injury accident

On the above date and time Gage County Deputies were dispatched to an accident at the listed location.  It was determined during the investigation that Jason Karlin, 45 years old of Pickrell was southbound on S. 5th Rd, driving a 2013 Ford pickup. The second vehicle, also a 2013 Ford pickup, driven by Molly Schaefer a 31 year old from rural Pickrell was westbound on E. Elm Rd. Karlin failed to yield to Schaefer at the intersection and an accident occurred. Karlin's vehicle went into the southwest ditch and rolled on to its top. All occupants in this vehicle were able to exit on their own. Karlin did have two juvenile's in his vehicle. One was transported to Beatrice Community Hospital as a precaution.

Seatbelts were in use by all occupants. Airbags did deploy in Karlin's vehicle. Alcohol and Drugs were not a factor. Karlin was cited for Failure to Yield Right of Way. Beatrice Fire and Rescue responded as did Beatrice Rural Fire.
