*Update* Threats to Industrial Facility - Arrest for False Reporting

DATE & TIME: 04-19-2023 / 5:00 pm

LOCATION: Koch Fertilizer / Nutrien Homestead Terminal

OFFENSE: Arrest for False Reporting

CASE #: 2023-1654

The Gage County Sheriff’s Office conducted a follow-up investigation on an incident that occurred on Tuesday, 04-11-2023, at the Koch Fertilizer plant and Homestead Terminal, both located on Southwest 89th Road between West Hickory Road and West Juniper Road.  The sheriff’s office was dispatched to investigate a possible armed person / active shooter at Koch, but the location was later determined to be Nutrien Homestead Terminal.  The investigation that day determined there was no basis for an active shooter or armed suspect complaint.

Investigators and deputies were able to determine who had made the call to Koch because she had also contacted Southeast Communications ten minutes prior to calling Koch.  An investigator called the phone number that had reported the incident and spoke to an unidentified female, but she declined to give her name.

During the course of the investigation, it was determined that 36-year-old Katherine Jueneman of Wymore had made calls to Southeast Communications and to Koch Fertilizer about an armed suspect.  Deputies attempted to contact her that day in Wymore but could not locate her.  On Wednesday, 04-19-2023 a Gage County Sheriff’s Office deputy located Jueneman at her place of employment in Blue Springs and issued her a criminal citation for false reporting.  Deputies and an investigator notified the affected businesses of the arrest by citation.
