On Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at approximately 10:00 am the Special Services sergeant and Special Services deputy at the courthouse were aware of three arrest warrants for 20-year-old Melissa Schmidt-Goertzen of Beatrice. A person known to associate with her was screened at the courthouse before entering the court area.

The sergeant and deputy notified a Gage County Sheriff’s Office investigator that they believed the person would meet up with Schmidt-Goertzen after court. The investigator and another deputy observed the associate enter an apartment building in the 800 block of East Ella Street around 10:40 am. They then made contact with Melissa Schmidt-Goertzen at the apartment and took her into custody without incident on the three Gage County arrest warrants. She was transported to the Gage County Detention Center by the road patrol deputy and booked into jail.
